Sand paintings, made with only a rake if you’d believe it, are the specialty of San Francisco artist Andreas Amador.  The ideas behind his work is far more complex than I am capable of conveying; it involves the pathways of energy found in nature, studying fractals and mandalas… I suggest you check out his site.  He usually creates the sand drawings during a full moon when the tide is at its lowest.

In el barrio de Latina de Madrid, Spain a much loved community pool was demolished. The street art group Luzinterruptus decided to protest.  The result is the creation of this installation, made from recycled cups filled with blue water, and lit up at night to mimic the pool.  A stunning and moving tribute.

Do check out their site - they do all sorts of beautiful, light-inspired installations.
